Tralee, 15 Sept 2016 : Tralee based tour operator Ireland WalkHikeBike are heading Alaska bound next week to showcase Ireland.
As member of the worldwide Adventure Travel Trade Association they will be attending the Adventure Travel World Summit. This takes place in Anchorage from Sept 19-22, 2016.
Every year, representatives from the adventure travel industry come together at the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) to talk shop. They get inspired and enjoy a decidedly adventurous destination anywhere in the world. Produced by the Adventure Travel Trade Association, the Summit is for tour operators, adventure travel writers and influencers, tourism boards and industry partners. Moreover the aim of the Adventure Travel Trade Association is to put effort towards nurturing, protecting and professionalising the sustainable development of the adventure travel industry.
Ireland WalkHikeBike will have a busy time promoting their walking and cycling holidays which they offer all around Ireland. “We’ve been attending the Summit for many years now, but heading to Alaska gives us a real opportunity to showcase Ireland to North America”, says Maurice Whelan Director of Ireland WalkHikeBike who attended the Summit in Chile last year.
In 2014, Ireland hosted the ATWS which was held in Killarney where over 700 delegates came together from 55 different countries.
The company, formally known as SouthWestWalks, was founded by Linda Woods. Their aim is “to take people into those hidden parts of Ireland that few know about and give people a real “taste and flavour” of Ireland the way we know it”.
