Our hiking &walking tours in Mayo explore the county’s north-west coastline, Achill Island & the beautiful Connemara region.
The north-western coast is rich in archaeological landscape, with its flourishing flora and fauna, majestic cliffs and rocky coves just waiting to be discovered by the walker. The Mullet Peninsula, which hangs off the Mayo coast, dominates this region and we have selected two walking days on Benwee Head and Erris Head that will give you a great feeling and understanding of this wild and rugged coast.
Achill Island is the largest island in the country and was first inhabited more than 5,000 years ago. Its magnificent blue flag sandy beaches, sea cliffs, open mountain tops and raised peat bogs, together with the warm hospitality of the locals, bring visitors back again and again for holidays in Mayo.
For those who enjoy hill walks or religious sites, Croagh Patrick is one for the bucket list. This holy mountain, situated just five minutes from the fabulous town of Westport, provides captivating views of the surrounding area from up high and is perennially popular with pilgrims, with almost one million people a year walking Croagh Patrick, either partially or in its entirety.
